Whether you’re traveling for work or pleasure, domestically or internationally, we share healthy travel tips to help you look and feel your best while exploring the world around you! Hint: our live cultures supplement is definitely a must-pack in your travel bag (find out why below!).

Healthy Travel Tips: What To Pack In Your Travel Bag

What goes in your bag will depend on where you’re going. For instance, you won’t pack snorkelling gear if you’re headed up to the mountains. And you’d skip the business suits if you’re going on a jungle adventure. That said, you can pack as many or as little as you want. To ensure your health and safety, take these with you on your trips:

1) First aid kit

It’s so easy to overlook first aid kits when travelling. After all, it’s the fun and adventure we all look forward to, not accidents and emergencies. But unfortunately, they do happen… all the time. To start with, grab yourself a basic first aid kit from the nearest drugstore or pharmacy in your area. Then add anything else you may need. For instance, if your kit is missing some of these items below, feel free to add them:

  • Band-aids or gauze pads – to cover up minor cuts, scrapes and wounds
  • Antibacterial ointment – helps treat minor cuts and scrapes and prevents infection
  • Antihistamine – helps with itchy rashes and bumps
  • Ibuprofen or paracetamol – helps relieve headaches, minor pain and fever (ibuprofen helps with swelling too)
  • Insect repellant – research what the most common insects are in your destination and look for the proper repellant

2) Prescription medication

Don’t lump these in with your first aid kit as you may need immediate access to them in case of emergency. Your prescription meds should be in their original packaging. Also, don’t forget to bring along your doctor’s prescription letter in case authorities ask for it. As for the quantity, pack extra as your meds may not be available in your destination.

3) The right supplements

Don’t leave your supplements behind when travelling! In addition to the supplements you’re already taking, consider bringing these along with you too (if you aren’t already):

Live Cultures

Travelling is fun until you get traveller’s diarrhoea. Then it’s sitting in the toilet for several days, which can obviously ruin your plans! For optimal protection, take live cultures at least one week before you embark on your journey. This helps your system accumulate a good number of live cultures to help fight off pathogens in the water you drink and the food you eat.

Here’s why our Adults Live Cultures is a must-have for travelling:

  • no refrigeration needed
  • good for 2 month’s supply
  • guaranteed 50 billion CFU
  • 10 strains of patented live cultures
  • Includes fibre that acts as food for the bacteria

Multivitamins

When it comes to nutrition, the best way to get all the nutrients your body needs is still through food. But when you’re travelling, you may not have that luxury, so the next best thing is to take multivitamins. While there are plenty of multivitamins out there, consider bringing our very own Adult Multivitamin on your trip. Here’s why:

  • 25 essential vitamins and minerals
  • active forms of vitamin B9, B12, and B6
  • higher concentrations of vitamins B, C, D, E, and K
  • special polymer bottle to protect the B vitamins inside
  • 2 month’s supply

Immunity Booster

Our next healthy travel tip is for you to bring an immunity booster. Traveling exposes you to a lot of things you normally wouldn’t be exposed to at home. Here’s why our MagEnhance Complete Magnesium Complex should be in your travel luggage:

  • Magnesium is involved in over 600 biochemical reactions in the body
  • A lack of Magnesium can lead to poor immune health
  • MagEnhance also helps with sleep, reduces stress, and boosts brain health!
  • 1 month supply

4) Extra sanitisers

You can never have enough sanitizers. Keep some in your carry-on bag as well as your check-in luggage. You can always top up when you reach your destination. Just make sure you’re never without them throughout the entirety of your trip!

  • Hand sanitisers – use alcohol-based sanitisers with at least 60% to 95% alcohol. To prevent your hands from drying up, look for brands that also contain moisturisers.
  • Disinfecting wipes – these are more convenient than manually pouring isopropyl alcohol on a piece of cloth or tissue paper. Bring a pack of these to wipe off and sanitise surfaces you come into contact with.
Stay safe when traveling

How To Stay Safe When Travelling?

Now that you’ve got an idea of what to pack when traveling, here are more healthy travel tips so you stay safe on your journey:

1) Get enough rest

Traveling can be stressful for your body, so you need to prepare beforehand. Get plenty of rest before you get on your car, train, ship, or plane, this is especially important if you’re behind the wheel. Likewise, when you arrive at your destination, try to get some rest before you do any of the fun stuff! Why? Because when you’re tired, your immunity may be compromised, so best to avoid this scenario.

2) Take precautions against pathogens

Traveling using public transport means queues and terminals and people crammed in tight spaces. To avoid getting infected with various pathogens, limit close contact with other people. Try to avoid physical contact as much as possible. Remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all times. You may also want to check out the World Health Organization’s website for news on any disease outbreaks in your destination.

3) Avoid touching surfaces unless necessary

Keep your hands to yourself when you’re out and about. Hand sanitizers and disinfecting wipes can only do so much if you keep on touching random surfaces. Some viruses can survive on various surfaces for hours and even days! If you do need to touch something, avoid touching your face afterward, specifically your eyes, nose, and mouth.
